Lourdes Letter: Summer Edition – June 19, 2020

Parents, Students, Faculty and Staff,

Welcome to the Summer Edition of the Lourdes Letter!

During the time of Continuous Learning, we enjoyed being able to learn and see what you and your families were doing.  We hope that you and your family continue to stay safe and healthy!  While we finished the school year with ‘Continuous Learning’, we wanted to kickoff summer (it officially begins on Saturday) with ‘Continuous Fun’ for the summer months.

If you or your family are followers of our Facebook page, a few of these items were shared this week.

Weekly Summer Activities for Your Family:

  • Celebrate June Dairy Month

      • During the month of June, we typically would have an opportunity to attend Breakfast on the Farm.  Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 these events have been cancelled for the safety of the farmers and the guests.
      • We encourage you to support the local dairy industry and checkout a variety of activities online for June Dairy Month.  Visit the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin website.
      • We learned during the time of Continuous Learning that families enjoyed seeing photos of our school families.   Let’s continue the fun and share photos with Mrs. Fink or myself of: How do you and your family support dairy farmers?  What is your favorite recipe made with dairy products?

  • Student Artists and Green Bay Packer Fans

      • During the school year, our students demonstrated their artistic talents while learning at school and at home.
      • Students, we encourage you to participate in the 4th Annual Packers Student Art Contest with an opportunity for you, your family and our school to win!
      • The theme of this year’s contest is “Packers Gameday Traditions” and asks students to share an artistic representation of what gameday means to them.  Artists are invited to capture the gameday traditions through painting, drawing, prints, digital art, mixed media or collage.
      • Information regarding this contest, how to submit your entry and deadlines are available here

  • Happy Father’s Day

    • This weekend, we celebrate some very special people in our families for Father’s Day!
    • How will you make Father’s Day special for your Dad on Sunday?
    • Please share your photos of your Dad celebrating ‘his day’ (or a special memory with your Dad) with Mrs. Fink or myself.

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Welcomes Us Back!

  • Welcome Back to Mass!
    • As of June 13-14, the parish is again offering masses in church.

  • Please be patient as the parish navigates the various guidelines to keep everyone in attendance safe.
  • In addition, a livestream option is also available on Sunday at 8:15AM on the parish YouTube channel.   Holy Communion is available following the 10:15AM mass (approximately 11:15AM).
  • During the pandemic, the parish introduced several new initiatives, which included ‘Catchup with the Clergy’.  These episodes are available for viewing on the parish YouTube channel with our clergy, Fr. Peter and Deacon Mike, sharing various topics in an informal setting.  The topics (approximately 7 minutes) are designed to keep you informed, join together with you in prayer, share upcoming events, learn more about our church, our Catholic faith and so much more!
    • This week: Fr. Peter talks about St. Peter, the first Bishop of Rome (Pope) appointed by Christ. Episode 7
    • Last week: Deacon Mike talks about the large stained glass window located in the church sanctuary, referred to as the Risen Christ window or the Modern Day Saints window.  Episode 6
